Assumption HS Frosh-Soph and JV Race #1 (Wed, Aug 31)
Race distance: 3k (just under 2 miles)
Location:  River Road Country Club
(corner of Zorn Avenue and River Rd, by the Water Tower)


This is a low key meet that allows our less experienced runners to compete against girls on their level 
– rather than run against many of the fastest girls in this area.  These races are closer to a very big 
practice than anything, with very few teams showing up.  This meet is a chance to figure out Cross Country 
in a very low pressure setting.  There may be changes in these entries as we get closer to the meet.

Also, just to clarify the entries below, (with rare exception) we enter any freshmen and sophomores who 
didn't compete at Tiger Run into the Frosh-Soph race, and then any juniors and seniors who didn't compete 
at Tiger Run into the JV race.

Everyone will be going to River Road this day, either to practice or to race.  I.e., our team is helping 
to host this race, so we will be practicing at River Road before the meet.  Parents are also responsible 
for getting their daughters to this meet.  The girls who compete may go home after school, but will need to
arrive by the times listed below.

The first thing you will want to do when arriving is look for our tent.  Second, you will need to write a
competitor number on the back of your hand (there will be a list of girls with their respective competitor 
numbers).  Not finishing with this number on your hand will get you disqualified, because it's necessary 
for us to use when compiling the results.  Please also leave any and all jewelry at home - you cannot wear 
any jewelry during your race.  Also, PLEASE don't get your ears pierced prior to this meet, because the 
earrings must come out, or you cannot compete.

Any parent who's available to help (nothing too complicated) around the finish line or (more importantly)
with cleanup after the meet would be greatly appreciated.  We would also appreciate having the girls who 
are not competing to stay and cheer for the girls who are competing and/or help out.


Please note:  do not wear jewelry to the meet (it must come off before your race) and there will be only one porta-potty available.

Directions (from Assumption):
1. From Assumption – take Bardstown Road south to the I-264
2. Take I-264 east (i.e. go under the freeway and turn left onto I-264)
3. Continue along I-264 until you approach I-71
4. Take I-71 toward Louisville (should be I-71 South or I-71 West)
5. Exit I-71 at Zorn Avenue
6. As you exit the I-71, you’ll want to stay to your right and make a right turn at the end of the offramp
7. On the very first opportunity to turn left (roughly at the point where you’re even with a BP gas station), turn left 
and drive into the River Road Country Club parking lot.  The lot is small, so if there isn’t enough parking there, then 
you’ll have to park across the street at the Water Tower (please don’t park in the parking areas of any neighboring 
businesses – they get rather unhappy about stuff like that).
