Assumption Cross Country
You've arrived at the Assumption Cross Country team website. Assumption's first Cross Country team was formed in 1981 and in that inaugural year the team won the Regional Championship. Since that time, we've finished in the top three every year since 2005, winning State Championships in 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011.This site is not only a source of current season team information, but is also dedicated toward highlighting the accomplishments of the many Assumption Cross Country athletes who have competed since that first season.
2012 Summer Cross Country Info
Our first official day of practice is Sunday, July 15, at EP Tom Sawyer Park at 5:00pm. We will meet in the picnic area near the tennis courts. A handout with summer practice and training information, as well as information on our Informal Freshman Run series (June 9-23) can be found in the Team Handouts section of this website.
AHS finishes 18th at NXN!
Coming off a fourth State Championship in five years, and a season where Assumption became the first HS Girls Cross Country team in Kentucky to put four runners under 19:00, Assumption Cross Country became the first girls team from KY to advance to the Nike Cross Nationals Cross Country National Championship in Portland, OR. Congratulations to Katherine Receveur, Emily Bean, Bailey Davis, Caroline McCaslin, Kenzley Defler, Kate Crawford and Amanda Vokoun for accomplishing this great honor. Cross Country team wins State!
The 2011 Assumption Cross Country team finished their season on a high note, winning their 4th State title in five years and a 7th consecutive top 3 finish. The Rockets put 6 of their 7 runners on the podium for individual awards (i.e. top 15) and all 7 runners finished in the top 17. Bailey Davis (2nd), Katherine Receveur (4th), Emily Bean (7th), Caroline McCaslin (8th), Kenzley Defler (13th), Kate Crawford (14th) and Amanda Vokoun (17th) were all ultimately acknowledged with All-State honors. St Francis High School, Our Sister Team
Assumption Cross Country has a sister team relationship with the St Francis High School Cross Country team, a former State Champion girls program in (Sacramento) California. We visited St Francis during the Fall 2007 season and competed in the Granite Bay Invitational, and St Francis visited Louisville in 2010 and competed in our Academy Meet. We'll be travelling back to Sacramento in 2011, with the current plan being that each team will visit the other every 4 years.
