Assumption Cross Country
You've arrived at the Assumption Cross Country team website. Assumption's first Cross Country team was formed in 1981 and in that inaugural year the team won the Regional Championship. Since that time, we've finished in the top three every year since 2005, winning State Championships in 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012. This site is not only a source of current season team information, but is also dedicated toward highlighting the accomplishments of the many Assumption Cross Country athletes who have competed since that first season.
Summer CC info
Summer Cross Country practice officially starts on July 15, and we'll be hosting some informal Summer runs during June and after the dead period ends in early July. AHS finishes 10th at NXN!
Coming off a program-first win at the Nike Cross Nationals Southeast Regional, Assumption Cross Country advanced for the second year in a row to the Nike Cross Nationals Cross Country National Championship in Portland, OR, and finished 10th. This #10 finish makes the team the highest nationally ranked girls team from KY in state history. Congratulations to Katherine Receveur, Emily Bean, Bailey Davis, Kenzley Defler, Kate Crawford, Abbie Wright and Olivia Boughey for accomplishing this great honor. Cross Country team wins State!
The 2012 Assumption Cross Country team finished their season on a high note, winning a 5th State title in six years and an 8th consecutive top 3 finish. The Rockets put 3 runners in the top 4, with Bailey Davis earning the first individual State Championship in school history, and 5 of their 7 runners in the top 15. Bailey Davis (1st), Emily Bean (3rd), Katherine Receveur (4th), Kenzley Defler (9th) and Kate Crawford (14th) each earned All-State honors, and Abbie Wright (45th) earned an All-State Honorable Mention award. St Francis High School, Our Sister Team
Assumption Cross Country has a sister team relationship with the St Francis High School Cross Country team, a former State Champion girls program in (Sacramento) California. We visited St Francis during the Fall 2007 season and competed in the Granite Bay Invitational, and St Francis visited Louisville in 2010 and competed in our Academy Meet. We'll be travelling back to Sacramento in 2011, with the current plan being that each team will visit the other every 4 years.
