Assumption Cross Country

You've arrived at the Assumption Cross Country team website. Assumption's first Cross Country team competed in 1981 and, in their inaugural year, the team won the Regional Championship. Since that time, the team had a State Runner-up team finish in 2006, and won a pair of State Championships in 2007 and 2008. This site is not only a source of current season team information, but is also dedicated toward highlighting the accomplishments of the many Assumption Cross Country athletes who have competed since 1981.

Strong performances in Chicago!

Assumption's Cross Country girls traveled to Chicago, IL, for the Palatine Invitational - a major Cross Country meet that's attended by many of the top teams from Illinois. Our JV and Frosh-Soph girls finished 10th as a team in races that included over 400 competitors and up to 29 teams. The Varsity team finished 7th in the team standings, just a few points out of 5th place. Allison Riedling and Sara Davis got on the medal stand for the Varsity Rockets with top 30 finishes. Although not a medal winner, Caroline McCaslin ran her best race of the year in finishing 33rd. Katelyn Sandell and Taylor Dadds also got medals for finishing well in their respective Frosh-Soph and JV races. Full results are available at milesplit.com.

Alumni-Parent 2 x 2k relay

We hosted our annual Alumni-Parent 2 x 2k relay race on Saturday, August 1, at Seneca Park and once again - it was lots of fun. We had our best turnout of alums and some pretty good distance-running parents join in on the action. This year's winners were Glenn McCaslin and Caroline McCaslin, so congrats to them on their win. They join the ranks of such previous distinguished winners as Dave and Kathryn Long, and Lou and Laura Armstrong. Much thanks also to the parents who helped organize the food and drinks afterwards.

2009 USA Cross Country National

Assumption Cross Country runners Amy Stamon, Sara Davis and Allison Riedling joined to compete for the Derby City Athletic Club in the Junior race at the 2009 USA Cross Country National Championship on February 9 in Derwood, MD. This race qualifies Junior (19 and under) and Senior runners for the US National Jr and Sr Cross Country teams that will compete in the World Cross Country Championship in Amman, Jordan this March, and involves many of the best Cross Country runners in the nation. This is also the first Jr girls team from Kentucky to compete in this meet, so we are very proud of our girls for participating in this event.

Results of the meet are available at usatf.org.
